We design and manufacture heated clothes for cold winter sports. Winter outdoor activities must have a series of functions such as waterproof, breathable, warm, windproof, comfort, etc. The heated clothing belongs to functional clothing. Layering heated clothes is the important to realize the above functions.
When working or exercising in cold weather, an excellent set layered outdoor heated clothing will be helpful. The are two kinds of layering clothing. The first is to layer different kinds of clothes in cold environment. The second is to layer a kind of clothes with different materials. This guide is for one clothing layering.
1. Why Heated Clothes Layering？
Form Waterproof to windproof, each base layer type plays a different role and to fulfill that function.
Layering heated clothing will make you more comfortable. It also can provide more flexibility and breathability.
This kind of functional layering requires necessarily a set of several pieces. The fabric of the same thick winter heated soft shell jacket may be composite. One fabric has three-layer structure and performs three functions.
A three to five-piece set of outdoor heated clothing allows you to undress items when the temperature is too high. It also redress it when the temperature is too low. This multi layer design makes you more flexible in cold weather activities.

2.Three Basic Layers of JTL heated clothes
Generally, JTL heated clothing has three layers.
Base Layer. JTL heated clothing inner layer is to control moisture. The innermost layer of outdoor heated clothing helps you stay dry by preventing moisture from accumulating and cooling on your body. Sweat will quickly take away heat from your body in cold weather.
That’s why it is so important to design a breathable base layer. The base layer can draw moisture away from your skin. The moisture can safely evaporate from your heated clothing.
JTL heated clothing uses breathable and comfortable inner layer fabrics. It is also form fitting and body-friendly.
Middle Layer. The main function of middle layer is to provide warmth. The middle layer is the insulation and heating layer. This layer is responsible for generating heat or keeping you warm.
JTL Garment use cotton lining, down filling, polar fleece or some lining materials as the midddle layer. Sometime, P cotton or 3M cotton is optional. It is has similar cotton effect.
The sub thermal layer has the generating and storing heat functions. The innovative carbon fiber heating panel is the safe and efficient heat generating element. The heating panel connects with an external power supply to realize heat generating function.
In addition to above thermal insulation material, carbon nano fabrics can also be helpful to increase the heat storage function. JTL Garment can customize heated clothing to meet your actual needs.
Outer layer. This outermost layer is the protection layer. It is responsible to protect your body from the wind or rain in outdoor activities. The technological fabric has many functions such as waterproof, windproof, anti slip, abrasion resistance, muteness, etc.
Different outdoor activities may highlight the needs for several of these functions.
3. How Is Heated Clothes Layering
Let us take JTL heated jacket as an example.
We select waterproof and windproof as the outer fabric, followed are the custom options and their specifications.
100% polyester 228T Taslan composite Tricked, 175 grams weight, waterproof and breathable standard 8000/3000 or higher.
Taslan fabric is a high end fabric fit for kinds of outdoor clohtes. It features durable hardness, light weight, good ductility and dyeing. It is fit for outdoor hi vis work wears, fishing & hunting wears, skiing wears, camping wears etc. It is in many different outdoor collections as a classic hard-shell outer layer.
100% polyester 110T Oxford cloth with PU membrane, waterproof and breathable standard 5000/5000 or higher.
Oxford fabric is a perfect substitute to taslan due to economic reasons. It is also with nice wear resistance, waterproof and bear washing. Normally we use it for a winter outdoor insulated jackets or pants top layer, especially on hunting, camping and climbing wears.
JTL use four-way stretchable fabric for some soft-shell collections. It is soft-feeling, tear resistance but stretchable, waterproof, breathable and lightweight. This fabric is a nice outer layer for early winter outdoor collections.
To ensure the waterproof function, JTL also pay highly attention to the seams taping procedure during production. We offer kinds of sizes tapes, also different fabric tapes to match customer requests on waterproof. In the same time, JTL take twice waterproof testing after seams taping.
We select breathable and heat keeping fabric and lining as the middle layer, followed are the specifications.
- High efficient heating elements.
- The insulated lining can be Primaloft, 3M Thinsulate, down fillings etc.
- To raise and keep more heating, we also offer technology fabric which support thermal storage function. The graphene fabric releases 8-15 microns of far infrared, resonates for the human body. The human body can absorbed the heat.
Sometimes when talking about early winter collections, we also select soft, comfortable and warm fabric as the inner layer, followed are the specifications.

- Polyester elastic fabric composite polar fleece, waterproof and breathable standard 3000/3000 or higher
In addition, multi-layer functional outdoor clothing is relatively heavy. For outdoor projects or occasions that emphasize speed or temperature, such as long-distance cycling, JTL heated clothing is a good choice.
